Recently I have been asked what I was listening to while running.
When I train with ears covered I barely listen to music. Most of the times various non-music mp3’s are bouncing within the plugs.
Some months ago I scripted a piece on running related podcasts for the German running magazine “RUNNING – Das Laufmagazin”. In this article I introduced the “Marathon Talk” (currently “Talk Ultra”), “Competitor Radio” and the “Marathon Show” podcasts.
But beside this three popular and merely running associated shows there is even more exciting audio material available these days. For example the past few months I have been busy listening mostly to the following five shows:
A. BBC World Service – Documentaries
B. Endurance Planet (Check the “ATU” slices featuring Lucho)
C. BBC World Service – HARDtalk
D. BBC Radio 4 – Profile (Make sure to check the episode from the 21st of April featuring Kraftwerks Ralf Hütter!)
E. The Off the Ball Football Show
I will post an updated list in a few months on new, worthy podcasts.
Feel free to send me your audio tips, I’m interested!
There it is – a spot-on splendor.
Set in the southern part of Lake Titicaca. The world’s highest lake (3820 m) is home to a real attraction – Isla del Sol.
I probably could compose a novel without any difficulty about the magic of that place. But as the pictures are so inspiring, I let them do the talking.
It was pretty hard to break all the unique impressions down to six trail related pictures. But as usual photographs show more than thousand words. And before anybody asks. Yes, that is the real color of the water!

Finally I found the time to upload various new photographs from the last couple of weeks on my tumblr site.
Go check ‘em out!
It is still hard to believe what happened last Sunday.
When I reached Tafí del Valle after another stunning race the emotions took over.
While assisting a woman who fell whilst crossing one of the rivers, fellow runner Ignacio sadly lost his life.
My sincere thoughts and sympathies go to Ignacio’s family and all his friends from Córdoba.
Run free.
To get a packet out of an Argentinan custom office involves pretty hard effort and numerous charming lies.
Explaining several pairs of new running shoes and other types of equipment stated as „Gift“ is not a stress-free job.
Cheers to the deadly lads at Brooks Europe for all the care and the quality material they provide!
I stayed in a fine little hostel just outside of El Bolson the past couple of days before heading back to Neuquen.
And again – mighty trails combined with wonderful weather. It is a worthy part of the year to spend time in Patagonia.
The trails here are incredible. Entirely marked and in perfect state. The surrounding was so irresistible that I went out each day on certain trails around the place.
Credits for the 180-degree image on top of Mount Piltriquitron (2284 mt.) to Rohan Wilson!
Impressive times!
Diego Constantini took some fine images on top of the Mount Quilanlahue during the Patagonia Run.
Credits for that Diego!
I’m simply amazed. Amazed by this gigantic system of magnificent trails. You have to be totally blind not to find a decent place to run here. Occasionally the toughest choice is which direction to take. Left or right?
The weather changed to the better today and the hours in the mountains flew away.
All sorts of trails fall into each other. My final decent was on some sick Mountainbike trails, which brought back memories to the good old childhood days on two wheels – Servus Beni, Gagi & Steckner!
